Flossing

Brushing alone can't clean out the plaque that lies between your teeth. You should floss at least once a day. The best way to floss is to get a long strand of floss (approximately 18"), wrap it around the middle fingers of both hands, leaving enough so that you can use the index fingers to make a short, tight section. Get the floss between your teeth, then wrap the floss around the tooth on one side, wipe up and down, then wrap around the tooth on the other side and wipe up and down. You can wind and unwind floss from the middle fingers to get a fresh section to work with as needed.

Newer floss such as Glide from Crest and Satin Floss from Oral-B tend to slide between the teeth more easily and give a better flossing experience than older wax floss.
